ATMs in Bangkok — Fees, Limits and the Best Strategy

Updated 2026 · Totally Bangkok

Bangkok's ATMs charge foreign cards a flat fee — how to minimise costs and get the best exchange rate.

The 220 THB fee

All Thai bank ATMs charge 220 THB (about $6.50 USD) per foreign card withdrawal — this is unavoidable and applies at every bank.

Minimising impact

Withdraw the maximum allowed per transaction (usually 20,000–30,000 THB) to spread the fee across a larger amount; fewer transactions, lower total fee impact.

Banks to use

Aeon ATMs at Big C and Lotus superstores are the exception — they charge 150–180 THB; slightly better. Superrich exchange booths offer better rates than ATMs.

Superrich (exchange booths)

Green Superrich booths throughout Bangkok offer among the best exchange rates in the city — change large amounts for best rates; closed evenings.

Card strategy

A Wise, Revolut, or Charles Schwab card reimburses ATM fees and uses mid-market exchange rates — significant savings for longer stays.
