How to photograph Bangkok respectfully and effectively — temples, street food, people, and the city at night.
Permitted in most temple grounds but NOT inside the main building (viharn) at many temples — look for signs; always ask when uncertain.
Street photography is generally accepted in busy public areas; always ask before photographing someone closely; monks in particular — ask first.
Dawn (5:30–7 AM) at the river and temples is extraordinary — soft light, monks doing alms rounds, minimal tourists.
Bangkok's skyline and temples are lit beautifully at night; the Chao Phraya at 8–10 PM from a river ferry is spectacular.
A waterproof camera case or pouch is useful; phone cameras are adequate for everything; the rainy season (May–Oct) is harder on cameras — protect them.
