Thai celadon, Benjarong porcelain, and wheel-throwing workshops — where to try traditional and contemporary ceramics.

Thai ceramics tradition

Celadon (pale green glazed pottery) and Benjarong (intricate colourful porcelain) are traditional Thai forms with roots going back to Sukhothai.

Where to learn

Studio Ceramics in Ekkamai and several Ari studios offer drop-in wheel-throwing (500–1,200 THB for 2 hours including clay and firing).

Benjarong painting

Some cultural centres offer Benjarong painting workshops — painting on pre-fired blanks with traditional five-colour patterns.

Take-home pieces

Pieces need a few weeks to fire; many studios will ship finished work; alternatively buy quality celadon at Chatuchak antiques section.
